DNS issues with wireless network

Hey guys. Found the site on Google, hoping y'all can help.

Here's the scoop:

1. I have full internet capabilities when my DSL modem is plugged directly into my laptop's ethernet port.

2. I have full internet capabilities when my DSL modem is plugged into my Linksys WRT54G wireless router, and another hard ethernet line going out from the router and into my laptop's ethernet port.

3. When I unplug the ethernet cable from my laptop and attempt to use the wireless network I have set up, it shows full signal strenth, and Local and Internet capabilities. Yet when I try to navigate to a website, I get a page load error in Firefox. Trying to diagnose and repair the connection tells me I have a DNS error.

4. I can get to a site like Google, when on the wireless network, by typing 64.233.187.99 as the URL.

Things I have already tried:

-Restarting/resetting/unlplugging everything

-Restoring router to factory default and making new network

Other notes:

I just moved, and had a fully functioning wireless network using Cable internet, this router, and this laptop. In this new apartment, I'm using the same laptop and router, but I'm on Qwest DSL.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how I can fix this. Thanks so much in advance.

Re: DNS issues with wireless network

I seem to have resolved the DNS problems (by sheer dumb luck, it would seem), but now the admin page for my router will not let me select a form of wireless security from the dropdown box. It keeps returning me to the default of "disabled" no matter what I select.

Any ideas?

Re: DNS issues with wireless network

Some things you can try here.
  1. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  2. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  3. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.
