SYN Flood issue
Hi, my first time here and I would appreciate any help you guys can give.
My issue is with a Netgear FVS114 VPN Firewall 4 port router. While my son plays locally installed games online he has been dropped on several occasions by the router. When I check the logs it shows a SYN Flood from his computer. I was wondering how I would stop the router from doing this? it is clearly an issue with the game(s) and not the computer as it works fine when not playing these certain games. More information: OS: VISTA 32 RAM: 2Gb Processor: Quad Q6600 MoBo: Asus P5n32e-Sli Log Message: 2008-07-07 21:25:06 - SYN Flood - Source:192.168.0.34,52799,LAN - Destination:207.38.10.214,80,WAN Network information: Netgear FVS114 4 port connected to a 20Mb Cable internet, acting as a DHCP server and NAT. LinkSys 4 port router connected to the FVS, DHCP Disabled 3Com Wireless 802.11g connected to the Linksys Dlink Di 624 connected to the FVS114, DHCP disabled. The computer in question is connected directly to the FVS114 Thanks for your time and help. Last edited by *Bill G* : 07-08-2008 at 05:55 AM. |

Re: SYN Flood issue
There may be some issue with the specific game or some malware on his machine causing the issue. Perhaps the game just needs an update, or try reinstalling it from scratch.

Re: SYN Flood issue
Thanks for the update John. I will certainly run the appropriate tools to check for Malware. The game is fully up to date. I may also try and run it on another OS (Win XP 64) to see if that helps.
Thanks again |
