Internet speed stuck at 170kb/s
Hello everyone,
I have a problem that's been driving me crazy the entire month: I have enterprise internet the speed I am suppose to get is 16 MBPS down and 1.5 MBPS up. I have the modem connected to a 3com 36port switch and then to my servers (ftp, http) etc. The problem is anytime I download something from the web or upload anything the speed will not exceed 170/kb, it will go to 180/kb if I am lucky. I ran a speed test from speedtest.net and the results show I am getting the speed I am subscribed to 15 mbps down and 1.4 mbps up, but when it comes down to actual file/web transfers the speed is stuck at 170. I hooked up my laptop directly to the modem and did a speedtest the results were the same, I setup a temporary FTP server on my laptop and asked a friend to download a file the speed would not exceed 170 kb/s. So this means the problem is somewhere with my ISP not my own network. Yesterday I swapped the modem with a brand new one and I replaced my firewall still the same issue. I have no idea what to do now I've replaced just about everything and the issue persists. The ISP now refuses to come to my site and troubleshoot the problem because they say according to the speedtest I am getting the speed I am suppose to so on thier side its no problem and that its my network thats causing it, even though I've told them the laptop into modem with FTP scenario. Not sure what is the step proceeding forward. Any ideas and recommendations are welcomed if you would like to see the problem yourself head to: http://darvesh.homedns.org:81/fdl/ and download tcadmin.rar (blank rar) and see if the speed exceeds 180kb/s. Thank You Darvesh |
