Suprised Can't contact your DHCP server -- HELP

Hi, guys! Here's my problem:

My dad recently used the AVG 8.0 anti-virus program guard to scan our PC for virus. When he cleaned out our PC of detected virus, we suddenly can't connect to the Internet anymore. LAN status is set to "Limited or No Connectivity"

When I tried ipconfig /release & /renew, CMD responds by saying it "can't connect to your DHCP server"

Here are the suggestions I've already tried, but didn't work:

- ipconfig /release & /renew
- Winsockfix.exe
- reset the TCP/IP stack
- reinstalled the LAN driver
- physically take out the LAN card and reset the pc

is there a way to save our PC without having to reformat? Thank you so much for the help!
