can't access public ip from the web

i've recently bought a second public ip address to be used on a device which i need to get access to from the web.

this is my problem i can't access to it from the web,
i've checked with the isp that all the setting are correct and they confirm that they are, but still can't access this device from the web.

when doing a tracert route to the public ip address, it stats that my ISP router is blocking traffic to the device.

i've tried changing many things on the ISP router, such as disabling the firewall etc, but still it blocks my access.

any ideas???

cheers
colin

Re: can't access public ip from the web

A standard SOHO router will only allow access to a single WAN (public) IP address. If you want to use both of them, connect a switch in front of the router and accessing the second public address there.

The NAT layer in the router (which is what makes it a router) will block any attempt to access that address from the LAN side of the router.
