I have a 40" HD Sony LCD television and want to watch HD videos I've shot and downloaded to my desktop machine (in another room) on the television. Also want to display still pictures on the TV. I have a PS3 still in its box and a new laptop and would like to connect both to my existing cable broadband (I have both cable TV and broadband from Time Warner). Also, I have a printer in another room that I want connected to both computers. So, that's...
TV PS3 Laptop Printer Desktop (the only thing that's connected, via hard wired cable modem) I'd like to get it ALL connected, wirelessly if possible, but have NO idea what I need to do. Don't even know what questions to ask or if this is the right forum. http://www.techsupportforum.com/imag...4-dontknow.gif Any advice would be much appreciated. _/\/\ichael{R} |

Re: Wireless connections: computer, TV, PS3, Printer, Laptop
First thing you need to buy is a wireless router combo. Linksys makes a nice one with many features. You will have to hook that into your cable modem and that will supply internet connectivity to your laptop, printer and other devices. Now for the TV. That is going to be the hard one. I can see a couple of options for you. First you could get a new videocard for your pc with a spare dvi or hdmi output and use that with your tv. Next you could get a Tivo series 3 dvr with HD and it can browse your computer network for HD video files ( Thats how I do it at home). Or you could use a data port on your tv to browse your home network also if your TV has that feature. Finally you could buy that new Samsung 50 inch plasma that has the Wireless N built right into it. Remeber this though if you want to watch HD on a wireless network I believe that the Network has to be and "N" type to handle the bandwidth needed.
