Local Network problem! Service pack 2 XP???
Hi, recently a problem with my Local Network appeared. I have one computer running WinXP pro (server) and two running Win 98 connected to it. I installed Service pack 2 two days ago. Now those 2 comps that run Win 98 can open just 3 or 4 websites. All others can not be opened. It says "The page cannot be displayed"!!! The one that runs Win XP has no problems conecting to any website! Network neighborhood works properly. Sharing files has no problem. There is an Internet connection at the two computers running Win98. I check it out under DOS - ping.. detects connection. It recognizes all sites, even those that IE browser does not want to open.
I set the firewall on, just for the connection to the Internet. Local workgroup has no firewall on. This couldn't solve the problem. Please, let me know if you have an idea what could the problem be!!!! Thanks! |

firewall
I tried.. it doesn't solve the problem! Is there any other security settings that might affect on this? Could this be a virus?.. What kind of virus could it be.. if it is a virus? It opens some websites but most sites it doesn't.
