Does this mean you're limited to a phone line for an ISP connection? A home network is usually done using ethernet connections between the users (clients). You could set this up and use a phone connection to access the internet, setting the host connected to the phone line to share it's connection.

Yeah I only have dial-up. I didnt really want to spend money on it and the computers are close enuf to connect using phone lines. I really only wanted to share printers and be able to share internet connections

Not at all practical to do. If just two computers, install networking cards in each, (if they don't already have them) and use a "crossover cable" between them. You can find the networking cards and cable on eBay as well as many other places.

Yes that should work. One computer connects to phone line, and share using network connections.

If you have the network cards in place, and the crossover cable the setup in windows is pretty easy. use the networking wizard in the XP. I think you can make a setup floppy from there to use in the ME. and have them communicate with a minimum of frustration
