Monitoring Internet Usage
Hi Everyone,
I have just subscribed today. I was wondering if there is any free Internet Activity Monitoring software anyone many know of. Basically, I need to know who is going on what page and who is dowloading how much. So far I can only find 30-40 day free trial software. We are a company of less than 50, running XP machines off Win2003 servers. I need one thats absolutely free. Or is there a way to find this information from ISA server or router? Any feedback would be much aprreciated. Thanks |

Re: Monitoring Internet Usage
You would be best setting up a proxy server. You can have it running a free version of linux based software like IPCOP or Smoothwall. Both are linux based and have a HTML configuration so there shouldn't be much of a learning curve.
http://www.ipcop.org/index.php http://www.smoothwall.org/ Ive used Smoothwall before, and it did everything you want and more!

Re: Monitoring Internet Usage
There are quite a few freeware applications that will do this for you but they are often detected by anti-spyware programs.
You could check out: http://www.spyarsenal.com/ When it comes to some of those programs, they require you to install them on each PC that you wish to monitor. You would also need to install a secure FTP or HTTP server on each computer to be able to remotely view the log files. You could check out: http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/ Please research privacy laws regarding logging of internet activity before implementing any such software. |
