My System

100MB files turning into 50kb, 7GB turning into 2GB

Recently when I've downloaded files they end up being smaller than they should be.

For instance: if I download a 100mb file, it will end up being about 56kb, or so..

And when i try downloading a large file such as BioShock from Direct2Drive.com, which is somewhere between 3 and 7GB, I can't recall, it's exactly 2.0GB... which ends up being corrupt due to lack of information.

Now, I've downloaded the files in the past, and they've worked fine... So I know it's not them, so it must be me (or my connection).

I downloaded other games from them that are the same size, and bigger, and they work fine... It's just BioShock and Rainbow 6 that come out exactly 2.0GB, when they should be larger.

I tried contacting them for customer support, but I found it very lacking, almost like they didn't really know what to do.

My past experiences here say that you guys probably do.

I would check my router settings, but I can't, because when i try to enter the password on my Verizon router page, each key I hit makes 2-3 entries... That is, when I press the 'a' key, between two and three little "circles" (represent the characters) come up... Copy+pasting in the password yeilds the same result.. about a 3x as long string of circles. =\

Anyways, if anyone has any ideas...

I'm running winxp sp3.

Thanks,
-ThatGuy

Well, first off, if you ignore the number of circles coming up, you should be able to enter the password. The number of circles or other characters echoed are made to do that as a security measure so someone watching can't guess the length of the password easily.

One reason for 2gig limitations might be the disk format, are the disks FAT32 formatted?

Re: 100MB files turning into 50kb, 7GB turning into 2GB

Ok, Thanks for the tip on the circles.. The first time I tried to ignore that I must have made a typo, so I didn't even try agian.

Secondly, no, I'm using NTFS, and I can normally download files larger than 2.0GB... For instance, out of the 7 games I downloaded from Direct2Drive, 5 worked fine, and they were all over 2.0GB.

Thanks for your support

Try using a download manager and see if that helps.
