Wireless signal excellent; IE cannot display page

Up until a couple of days ago, my wireless was working perfectly. My husband tried hooking his old dinosaur Vaio onto my wireless signal and now I cannot connect to the internet via my wireless. I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" everytime. When I plug in and forgo the wireless, my internet works perfect.

I reset my wireless router a couple of times already. I'm frustrated and ready to throw the laptop out the window.

If anyone can help, please keep in mind I have a hard time with all the high tech lingo and will have to explain in Dummy format.

Are you sure no settings were altered what so ever when the other laptop was connected to the wireless?

My husband said he only clicked "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" on my laptop.
Within 10 minutes I was blaming him for my loss of connection and my wireless still isn't working.

Ah now I do know that clicking "allow other users to share this internet connection" does only work a certain way. Without getting technical, when ICS (internet connection sharing) is enabled there is a certain range of ip addresses that it must use. What I am thinking is that when ICS was enabled on the laptop it would have set the default ip address of that laptop to 192.168.0.1 which may be the same as your routers which would cause problems. To find out for sure I would need you to find the ip address of the router and the ip address of the laptop.
It would also help of your husband turned off ICS because this only needs to be used if his laptop has the internet connection (through a modem) and he is sharing the connection to other computers. Since you have a router that already shares the internet connection it is not needed.
If you struggle to find the ip addresses, tell me the make and model of your router and hopefully I can help you find it.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

What country are you located in.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
What is the expected Upstream/Downstream speed for your ISP Connection?
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make and model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.




Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?

If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?




On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands:

PING 216.109.112.135

PING yahoo.com

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I was able to perform a system restore to a week prior to my husband jacking up my connection. After the system restore, it worked again!
