Network Cable Unplugged?
Hi, recently the internet on my computer has stopped working. It happened this morning around 1 AM. I was on the system in my room which has a Linksys Wireless-G card installed, and suddenly the internet just stopped working. I went to the other computer to see if someone had unplugged something, but no one was on it, and the internet was still working. On the system in my room there is a little thing in the taskbar that says 'A Network Cable is Unplugged." and when I click it it says "NVIDIA nforce Netowrking Controller" and it's got the red X on it and says that a network cable is unplugged. I don't know why it would suddenly say that. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Network Cable Unplugged?
true sometimes the rj-45 connectors on each end of the cables get loose and suddenly breaks off with no warning and could be loose.. It does sound like a faulty cable to me ...

Re: Network Cable Unplugged?
Are running this on an internal WiFi card or an external AP?
If internal do have the WiFi symbol in the tray or just the wired symbol? Can you ping any other computers on your network? Can you ping Google at 64.208.34.100? |

Re: Network Cable Unplugged?
If you are using your wireless adapter, which you indicated you are, then you probably don't have a wire plugged in that goes to the router, therefore you would get a message that a cable is unplugged because it is. That's not really the problem that you're having, again if you're connecting wirelessly. I'll ask the obvious question that seems to rectify many issues, have you rebooted the computer since this happened? That's the first thing I would try. The next thing would be to see what would happen if you restarted the router, perhaps it stalled. Not terribly uncommon. Sometimes people enable logging on their router and without having an external place for the log file to go, the buffer can fill up and cause the router to lock up. Probably not in your case, but it's worth checking.
