Shared Printer Can't Printer from the Network Users

Hi all,
I created a home network and had my laptop wirelessly connected and my desktop ethernet-wired connected to my router. Both my 2 computers can see each other on the network and can share files with no problems. However, the sharing of my local printer connected to my desktop does not work so well all the time. I can print from my desktop w. no problems at all. But I sometimes cannot print from my laptop. When I click print on MS Word, the doc is sent to print. However, the printer remains silent. Nothing happens! But this problem does not happen all the time. I could print from my laptop when I created the sharing of this printer to the network. But now I can do it. Can anyone tell me what's wrong??

If I have not explained my problem clearly enough, plz let me know.
