[SOLVED] Internet Access in Safe Mode Only
I am setting up a new computer running Windows Vista. I can only access the Internet if I boot the computer in Safe Mode with Networking. If I boot Windows normally and try to access the Internet (using Internet Explorer), no page will display. I don't know where to go from here. Any ideas?

Re: Internet Access in Safe Mode Only
pcchick,
Do you have any internet security/firewall or antivirus software installed? If so, what product/version? Boot in Normal mode and try opening the Control Panel. Does this work? Just asking because I saw a similar issue where the Control Panel wasn't working. What, if anything did you install (hardware, software, drivers, updates, etc) prior to having this problem? Have you scanned your PC for viruses or malware? The fact that you can use the network in safe mode tells me that something is corrupted or messing up "Normal" mode so we'll need to clean boot in Normal mode to isolate the culprit. Reply with more info and we'll be able to help. - John |

Re: Internet Access in Safe Mode Only
Thank you so much for your response. I finally figured it out today. It turned out to be the McAfee Firewall/Antivirus software that came with the computer. I guess that's one way to make sure we don't get viruses. Don't let us connect to the Internet! :-)
