No idea what the problem is...
I'll try to explain this as best as I can, even though I have no clue what's going on with my connection.
About three or four weeks ago, I logged on to my computer (running Vista) and opened Firefox, only to notice that my connection wasn't working. I checked MSN, and that too told me that I wasn't connected to the internet. Now this was odd because usually I could just start up my computer and the connection goes through automatically. A few seconds later, the connection icon in my navbar tells me that I have a "limited connection". So then I thought 'are my cables broken? is my modem being stupid? Maybe it's the router' (Linksys Wireless-G). So I unplug my modem and the router, waited for a bit then plugged everything back in, but to no avail. Still thinking it could've been my router, I unplogged the network cable from my router and decided to try to use just the modem. At first it didn't seem to work, but I set up a manually connection on my computer where you have to actually put in a username and password and click connect and all of that. And it worked, so I was happy. It worked for a few days, but then I started noticing some oddities. I was still unable to use MSN, my connection was EXTREMELY slow, some webpages don't work at all, I can't log in to Livejournal, and can't load Youtube videos, and a whole bunch of really random things like that. I don't have any firewalls up, either. So now I'm completely stumped. Any ideas on what to do? |

Re: No idea what the problem is...
Direct connection with no firewalls? I'd be thinking malware now.
