I have been trying to network 3 units, 2 laptops which are wireless and a desktop which is wired, the desktop is running XP and the others Vista.
The Desktop can network with one of the vista (A) and share files but not with vista (B) Vista (B) can open files in vista (A) but (A) can’t in (B) which can’t even see the desktop, but the desktop can see it in (view workgroup computers) but it's not accessible on either of the other computers. Vista (B) has got something turned off that’s not letting the other 2 computers network but I can’t find what or there is physically something wrong with vista (B). I have all computers in the same work group with all the file share options checked in networking and sharing center, the computers are sharing the net and on both vista computer in show full map, show all the right connected devices and computers in the right place. Does anyone have any thoughts on what I’m missing on Vista (B)? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers F_Z Last edited by MaKiN_BaCoN; 05-19-2008 at 06:09 PM. |

Re: Vista (B) MIA!
I got help elsewhere and fixed it, for those who care for this info, I had to set the firewall in norton in vist (B)
Antivirus -> Internet security -> Internet security and firewall options -> Trust control, then set a trusted network, I’m using Norton but I guess most Antivirus would have the same protocol when it comes to these matters. |

Re: Vista (B) MIA!
I agree. I tried Webroot DTFirewall for about two days before I gave up on it. Some of them are just too damned complicated, which makes it way too easy to miss something out an leave your system vulnerable.
