[Help] limited or no connectivity(won't renew ip)

Ok well, this morning i reformatted my PC and installed a new copy of window xp professional SP2. But for some reason I'm getting this connection error on my local connection. I tried turning on and off the router/reset, WinsockxpFix, reinstalled my SiS 900-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter, and also tried other cabals to the router to the computer. Sometime, there is no light flashing in where the cabal plug in is, when that happens i remove it, plug it back in and the light would turn on after a few tries. Than my local connection tries to retrieve thee Ip Address but no good.

Re: [Help] limited or no connectivity(won't renew ip)

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
  1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
  2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
  3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

Try this as well, even though this is a new installation.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.
