Hello aLL
I bought new mediagate running fine but on wireless n/w it cud nt find any pc....I have one pc and one laptop one is having xp professional and other media edition 2005, they both can see themselves on each others machine... I checked my unit at my friends place and it was working fine - It could find the pc on the network....At my friends place we did nothing ..connecting to the wireless and make one shared folder in my freinds laptop and thats it ...running excellent.. So one thing is sure that my device is fine and the problem is either in my pc or in my network setup most probably my network I think... mediagate is not window based it is linux/unix and use samba protocol my setting are :DHCP - ON PC SETTING IP ADDRESS- 10.1.1.2 SUBNET MASK- 255.0.0.0 DEFAULT GATEWAY- 10.1.1.1 lAPTOP SETTING IP ADDRESS- 10.1.1.3 SUBNET MASK- 255.0.0.0 DEFAULT GATEWAY- 10.1.1.1 MediaGate SETTING IP ADDRESS- 10.1.1.4 SUBNET MASK- 255.0.0.0 DEFAULT GATEWAY- 10.1.1.1 what can be possible cause.. In my Router under DHCP List I can see the IP address of Mediagate or may be I have really messed up my network , can you please let me know what I need to to do or if I want to setup my network from scratch what need to be done. my wireless router is DLINK DSL G604T I have even done the factory reset and firmware upgrade also but no success... let me know if you have any idea or please forward me any website or link for further help ..please I really appreciate your great feedback raj |

Re: Network issue regarding mediagate
mmarhala,
Check out: http://mediagate.pbwiki.com/MG35Faq scroll down to "Can I access my MG35 over Wi-Fi?" This might help. Also, found this: How to configure a computer to be accessed by MG35? Windows MG35 tries to access the selected computer using a hard-coded set of credentials (user/password). First, be sure that the "guest" account is enabled (it is disabled by default). If somehow this doesn't work for you, try to create an account called "Media" with the password "gate". If it's working over wired, but NOT wireless, the issue might be a limitation with this device over the limited bandwidth of Wireless connections. check out: http://www.mediagateusa.com/html/mg350supt.html - John
