Using Tracer Toner to track down drops
I have a Triplett Fox2 Tracer Toner , At my old job I used to could get the wand anywhere near the active cable and it would go off like crazy but we were using all cisco switches there. Now I am at a new job and the only way I can locate where a drop comes in to a patch panel is to disconnect the cable going to the HP Procurve switch, and I can then place the end of the wand to the cable and pick up the signal. Does anyone know if the HP Procurve switches short the signal to ground or something? Anything I can do the the HP switches to allow me to pick up the signal without having to unplug the cable from the switch?
Thanks JD. |
