No Internet connection through a Router ...Please help
I am trying to setup a wireless internet connection using Linksys (WRT54G2) wireless router. I currently have internet service by using an ethernet cable directly from my laptop to to the cable modem (My ISP is Time Warner) When I go through the steps of configuring the wireless router and get to the point where I have to connect the an Ethernet cable from the cable modem to the router and an ethernet cable(Blue) from the router to my PC, I loss internet connection...Please

Did you turn off the modem when you changed from the connection to the computer to the connection to the router? That's a REQUIRED step for standard DOCSIS compliant modems.

What is the exact make/model of the modem?
When connected directly to the modem and on-line, let's see this. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
