ICS gateway dropping internet connection host when peer computer reboots
I'm currently trying to set up a home network, consisting of 1 desktop and 1 laptop. The Host is my desktop and has 2 LAN cards. One lan card is used as my internet connection (LAN 1) and my second LAN card is used to connect to the laptop. I am using a DSL router.
Going through the network setup wizard on XP, it prompts me to setup a network bridge and I do so. The network runs fine, no issues on internet sharing and file sharing. Only issue is that everytime the laptop (peer) reboots and is switched off, the network will also reboot my internet connection. Is there any way to disable this? I have deleted and remade the network multiple times ensuring that the peer computer is not able to disable the internet connection. Any ideas? Thank you. |

Re: ICS gateway dropping internet connection host when peer computer reboots
Why in the world are you using ICS if you have a wired connection from the router handy? Use a $10 Ethernet switch to split the connection and lose ICS!
