Hi! I have just finished setting up a VPN server.
I can connect to it if I use the internal IP address of the VPN server (192.168.*.*), but, when I try to use my external IP address, as if I were to try to connect to it by remote, it will not connect. It gets to the stage where it is verifying username and password, then an error message that says "Error 806..." and it says something about the "GAC protocol not working on a piece of Network hardware, such as a router or firewall". Could it be a problem with my ISP, and how could I fix it? Like I said, if I use my internal LAN ip, it works fine! Thanks for any help in advance! -AJ

Re: Cannot connect to VPN outside of LAN
I'd guess that your router is the issue. You'll probably have to port forward to allow the VPN to connect from the outside through the router.
Take a look here for more information about configuring a VPN. http://www.homenethelp.com/vpn/
