XP Network settings Corrupt?

I have two drives with winxp on each, one i keep for emergency's to clone over, the other i use day to day. I recently uninstalled some software and it did not go smoothly, as a result I now cannot connect to the internet or the lan. I have two other machines and a broadband router.
if i boot into the new partition i can see all pc's and get on the net. Ive tried copying over the good wnsock and winsock2 & re installed the network card drivers. but still no joy.
i can ping the other pc's but when i try to add to network it says error cannot proceed.

Any help appreciated.

Re: XP Network settings Corrupt?

Is your network card installed on both drives..all showing in device manager?

Try uninstalling the non working one if it is there.
Reinstall and make sure if your using DHCP all settings must be set to automatic.

Re: XP Network settings Corrupt?

card showing in both drives, tried uninstalling and re installing, all settings the same on good partition and bad, by the way it's xp pro with sp2, not a pirate copy and upto date with updates.
