Thumbs Down Belkin F5D7230au4 ver 6005

blinken hell.... tried to connect this router to my laptop... tried with the setup CD and got as far as entering my internet access account details and that was it - no can do! rang the 0800 number and spoke to two guys - they made me change a heap of settings and at the end I couldn't even get the router to connect via cable to the laptop - "sorry but your computer can't run this router - try it out on an other computer"

yeah right... turned the whole machinery off and the next day I gave it an other go! BINGO got wireless running but no cable connection - then turned the router off and pressed the reset button before I turned it on again and kept the reset button down for about 20 seconds - now BINGO I got internet connection via cable but no wireless and still can't access 192.168.2.1 - only get internet if I do the power off & reset thing

H E L P! H E L P !

You've reset it to factory defaults with the 20 second reset, so now it's time to enter the web based configuration of the router and setup the wireless.

Re: Belkin F5D7230au4 ver 6005

thank you! but I can't get to 192.168.2.1 - The connection has timed out

The server at 192.168.2.1 is taking too long to respond.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

You appear to have the broadband modem connected to one of the LAN ports of the router, not the WAN port. Correct that and see if you have better results.

Re: Belkin F5D7230au4 ver 6005

hi there! sorry for the delay - we've been away overseas

the router got only one connection to connect the modem to (even says on the plug "modem")... this is starting to really annoy me

Re: Belkin F5D7230au4 ver 6005

Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.
  • Turn off everything, the modem, router, computer.
  • Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
  • Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
  • Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
  • Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
  • Boot the computer.

When the computer is completely booted, let's see this.
