Question My Linksys Wireless G Router keep reset it self.

I have a Linksys Wireless G Router model: WRT54G vr.6, got it about a year. The last 3 months now i have problem with my DSL. Verizon is ISP and they gave me Westell 6100 Modem so I had to go into Linksys 192.168.1.1 and set up a password. I go to Setup Tab and choose Obtain an IP Auto then I change Local IP Address 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 in in order the internet can go to 1 PC and Wireless. I go to Wirelss option and created up an SSID the default was: linksys then set up an WEP 64 bit encrypt then it done, everything work but the past month my internet is not working anymore my SSID keep reset itself back to linksys and LOcal IP Address is not .2 anymore but it go back to default 192.168.1.1. CAn anyone tell me what is going on? is it because the sun light keep shining on it alots or linksys is a defective itself? Now i try to do the same method change .2 or .3 at the end but it wont work. Please help.

Re: My Linksys Wireless G Router keep reset it self.

Some things you can try here.
  1. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  2. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  3. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues. If it still exhibits the issue, I'd be thinking it's a defective router.

yeah getting the latest firmware is important since your device is automatically changing to defualt setting... also, when reconfiguring your router, try using 192.168.2.1 (LOCAL IP) instead of .1.2
