Hi, I have a netgear Wireless G network USB adapter that worked before. I have 2 problems. first, my wireless internet is not working properly. When i reinstall XP, my downloads are just fine, from 30-40kb/s. Now, I can't even browse the internet, it would say received 1 packet and sent 1000. Sometimes it would say problem with IP address, but after a while, my proper IP address that's always assigned to me is given to me. Whats wrong?
Second, recently i've tried fixing it again, and when i plug it in, the sound that windows gives you when you plug in a USB of any kind is not there. The first tone or note of the sound is repeated 3 times. When i unplug it it would give me the normal tone from xp. Usually when i plug it in, the wireless connection option should automatically be shown in the "Connect to" menu. Its not there. Help!! |

Re: Wireless G USB not working
Sounds like driver issues to me. I'd totally uninstall the drivers, and after that, unplug the adapter before rebooting. Reboot and make sure all is well without the adapter. Install the adapter again like it's a new installation, and see if that helps.

I have deleted all your duplicate threads on this issue. Please do NOT post multiple threads on the same issue, it just creates more work for us and duplication of effort for people trying to assist you.

Re: Wireless G USB not working
What you told me helped my a lot, but now that my pc is recognizing my USB, i am sending 100 packets and receving like 4.
My ISP is Rogers Wireless and the speed is 13xx kb/s and upload is 346kb/s. The router that i'm using is a speedstream wireless B router on channel 6. My wireless USB is a wireless G. |

Re: Wireless G USB not working
Disable all encryption on the router, and see if you can get it working without it. Add the encryption as a separate step once you get it running without it.

Re: Wireless G USB not working
That sounds like either wireless interference, driver problems, or bad hardware.
