the router itself so far has been brilliant, no problems what so ever, until i installed Call of Duty 4 today to game, the lag was horrible, my ping wasn't great and and im on a 20mbit connection so i expect it to be good rather than so so... but this isn't the issue its like im playing at 3 frames a second, so straight away i dived into the graphic settings to see what could be doing this.
nothing out of the normal, im running a decent system 2gig 800mhz ram, 8800GT and a quad core. so then i come out, nock my firewall out, search for spy ware.. check no other programs are doing anything. I rang a friend and he confirmed what i had been thinking, and that it was my router, only problem is neither I or him have much experience with router's. so please if you could give me any tips what so ever they would be greatly appreciated! also i ran the game in single player mode and it ran fine on full graphics. thank you in advance. |

Re: D-Link DIR-615 wireless router, gaming issues
Did you install the latest nVIDIA drivers for your 8800GT, as well as DirectX? I should note there are multiple versions of DirectX 9.0c (varying by date) which come with a multitude of fixes (shame on you MS for not properly changing version info
).nVIDIA ForceWare 169.21 DirectX 9.0c (March 2008) It's a hard bet to say the problem lies with your router until the above are dealt with, especially if you are having issues with FPS. |

Re: D-Link DIR-615 wireless router, gaming issues
Another thing you should do if you haven't already, is update the firmware on that router. The originally shipped firmware had a multitude of issues, the current version is much better!
