Linksys WRT600N Wireless Router
I recently bought the Linksys WRT600N Router and use it, for now, to stream media and for online gaming with the Playstation 3. My primary concern is transmission speeds. I want to maximize my data transmission rate. I read in order to receive maximimum speeds you need to use WPA2 type encryption - which I currently use (WPA2 AES type), and the PS3 is capable of using. I have the latest firmware installed and the router is located, without any obstructions, about 11 feet away. My question is, is there any way for me to test my connection speed to verify I am maximizing my transmission speeds. I've tried pinging the PS3, but I am not sure how to read the information that displays after the test. Any helpful information, or configurations to maximize my console-computer wireless speeds and performance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Re: Linksys WRT600N Wireless Router
Actually, to maximize transmission rates, you would use no encryption, however that are obvious issues running that way for most folks.

Re: Linksys WRT600N Wireless Router
i read that in order to get the maximum secured transmission speeds with the wrt600n router you needed to use wpa2 encryption, which i have. . . i just don't know how to check the transmission speeds to ensure i'm getting maximum throughput, i think that's what it's called. . . . also, i'm not using the n spec, i'm only using g. . which is the ps3's wireless requirement. . . . is there anyway i can test it. . . other than downloading with a stopwatch???

Re: Linksys WRT600N Wireless Router
None that I know of. The stopwatch method is actually very effective.
