How the...???
I have a 2 computer system running in my house: the (basic) one downstairs to keep my family happy, and the (half-decent) one in my room. I frequently switch the cable from PC to Xbox 360. Now, my PC suddenly has stopped detecting any LANs, even though the ethernet cable is plugged in. None of the microsoft wizards seem to work.
How the hell do i fix this? |

Re: How the...???
Check out two things:
1) control panel -> Network connections Do you have a LAC listed? If so, is it enabled? If not, enable it, and see if your LAN is detected. 2) right click on 'my computer' -> manage -> device manager -> network adapters Find your NIC. Is it disabled (red x)? If so, enable it. If it's not currently disabled, then uninstall it. Then Action -> Scan for hardware changes. You should get a 'found new hardware' message, and your NIC should be reinstalled. Now try your LAN and see if it's working. Sounds to me like your LAC just got disabled, so the first option should probably take care of it. |

Re: How the...???
Does the XBOX still work?
Let's see this for the machine. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: How the...???
tried it already, as well. Whatever website I ping to, it either a) won't ping at all, or b) it always gives a ping lower than 75 ms.
And the IPCONFIG /ALL command shows the box for about 3/10 of a second, so i can't show any results. Last edited by DreadZer0 : 04-21-2008 at 02:53 AM. |
