Getting Internet Signal to 12 Ports in Leviton Media Panel
Hey Everyone...
I just finished wiring my entire house with Cat 6 Cable to each room from a Leviton Media Panel. http://www.smarthomeusa.com/Shop/Str...tem/47605-28W/ Inside the Panel I installed a LIN Advanced Home Telephone and Video Panel with a LIN Telephone/Data Patching Expansion Board. http://www.smarthomeusa.com/Shop/Str...tem/47606-AHT/ http://www.smarthomeusa.com/Shop/Str...tem/47605-C5B/ Here is my Issue.......I use a Sprint PCS Broadband connection (sorry out here in the boonies that is all we have)....The card is plugged into a Linksys Wireless-G Router for Sprint Mobile Broadband WRT54G3G http://shopper.cnet.com/routers/link...-32092813.html This router works great but I need to have the ability to patch the internet signal into the media enclosure and split it out to all 12 ports on the expansion boards...I am assuming that I need a 12 point switch?...but it needs to fit into the enclosure if that is what I need in the first place. The router only has 4 ports on the back and I need to keep it out of the Media Panel so i can pull the card when I go on business. So my question is....What do I need to make this theory work and does anyone have a recommendation on a specific product that will take a single internet signal from the router and patch it to 12 places and yet fit inside my Media Panel (I have plenty of room 15 inches wide and 15 inches tall in the Media Enclosure to make it work)...? Thanks....Jeff |

Re: Getting Internet Signal to 12 Ports in Leviton Media Panel
Well, from the dimensions, it sounds like you should be able to fit most 16 port switches into the panel. For instance, here's one that measures 10.43 x 3.31 x 1.02 in, sounds like a fit. You'll need to provide 115VAC power for the power brick...

Re: Getting Internet Signal to 12 Ports in Leviton Media Panel
I pointed to a specific example and a search for many more. Yes, you need a switch. I'm confused about the power brick to power the switch, how can they know what power is required unless they know the exact switch make/model?
