IP address in address bar does not work?

Hi, I know that if I type the correct IP address into my IE browser the corresponding website should display.

using the command prompt to get the IP, example
ping www.myspace.com
I can get the ip address for that website.

When I get the IP address for myspace, and try typing it into IE this works great! But for a lot of sites the IP does not seem to work such as:
www.google.com
www.pbstar.com
www.warpig.com

anyways you get the ideal. So I'm wondering why this is? Is there a way to find the true IP that would work?

Actually, you're doing the normal thing I do to get an IP address. That should work, and it works fine for me with both IE7 and Firefox.

have you tried the IP for google and seen that it doesn't take you to google?

I just pinged google (64.233.167.99) and entered it into Firefox and it went straight to google home page.
