Re: Help regarding seting a 18 pc network

Is there any Internet sharing involved? How about exact make/model of the switch you intend to use, as well as any broadband router and/or broadband modem for Internet connections.

Re: Help regarding seting a 18 pc network

Hey there. I have had a lan using a 24 port switch and A dlink Dsl 502g. This is what we did.
We hooked up the modem and everything then put the ethernet cord from the modem/router to the switch in the uplink slot. We then plugged all the Pcs in to the switch using cat 6 ethernet cable not crossover ethernet cable.
in the Ip settings we did this
each ip was
10.1.1.11 Only this one changed we changed the last two digits and counted up for every pc.
our subnet mask was 255.0.0.0
and our default gateway was 10.1.1.1

And in DNS we used the DNS our ISP gave us.

When all the pcs were on we set up MShome on them and made them all have file and printer sharing. we could then have lan gaming and surf the net also.
