Can I access home network via the internet

Ok so after much strain and toil and many hours of research, I have managed to network my "office" box (WinXP Home SP2), my "music" box (Ubuntu), and my laptop (Vista Home Premium). Cool and Great! Now I am interested in using my laptop (or any outside computer for that matter) to access my home network via the internet. So my questions are:
1) Is this possible without creating a security and integrity risk?
2) Is this possible for someone without a programming backround?
3) If 1&2 are both yes: then HOW?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any time you have to spare on my silly question.

Re: Can I access home network via the internet

I am not exactly sure what you meant by accessing your home network but you may like to try a free program called log me in. It enables remote access of your computer from another computer...if thats what you want.

I use UltraVNC, it supports encryption on the link and is pretty secure.
