Bridging NIC's

Can someone confirm please

From within XP SP2
I have a PC which is connected to the Internet via a switch to a Router.

I want to give access to the internet to a second PC by connecting it to a 2nd NIC that I will install in the PC, at least until I can replace or add another switch to my network and add the extra cabling.

Do I just go to Network Connections and highlight both NIC's, select Bridge in order allow the second NIC to link the second PC and give access to the router?

Is there anything else that I need to do apart from ensuring that the right drivers are installed. Do I need any "extra" protocols?

I think I found my answer on the internet but if anyone has anything to offer from experience , I am all ears

The classic way is using ICS.

Take a look at this Microsoft ICS (Internet Connection Sharing tutorial.

Whenever I have used that I have spent ages (months on & off) trying to get it to work .. in fact I went over to Kerio win route lite server which I had configured and working within hours.
ICS always allowed me to do whatever I wanted but would never allow me to get mail or surf .. and sorry to say past experiences can't be forgotten, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole

Right now, since my son spent the night fixing up & adding the extra PC to his and then he used the "wizard" to add it I have had to make some subtle adjustments so that we can share files again .. I also gave static ip's so that I can forward a couple of ports for his gaming. It appears to be working after doing this and bridging the NIC's.
Time will tell though if we have any other problems.
