Angry [SOLVED] Internet connection

I am using a linksys router and was having no problems with the desktop wired to the router as well as two laptops. Then without warning the router has apparently decided to stop letting internet connection through. I am rebooted everything released and renewed the DCHP in through the firmware. On the desktop is says internet is connected but I can get anything to come up. When I plug the modem directly into the laptop I get a connection no problem. Any ideas?

Re: Internet connection

  • Turn off everything, the modem, router, computer.
  • Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
  • Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
  • Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
  • Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
  • Boot the computer.

When the computer is completely booted, let's see this.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Also, please try this.

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

PING 216.109.112.135

PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: [SOLVED] Internet connection

I'm guessing that a direct connection to the modem works? If so, it sounds like the router bit the dust.
