Wireless networking issue

Hey, all.

I've a two wireless networking issues I hope someone might be able to help me solve.

First: When on a wireless network using multiple access points, should a Windows XP Professional SP2 machine using Windows Zero Configuration automatically re-associate to the access point with the strongest signal?

Second: What might be causing this same notebook to not automatically search for and connect to preferred networks? When moved from the home network to a previously-configured public network, I have to force the unit to connect.

First: No, it'll hang onto the one at the top of the list until it loses the connection. It has no way of knowing there's a stronger signal until it's searching for available networks again.

Second: I don't know, that's not normal. I suspect that it's because you still have the public AP on the list.
