Network Stops Working Vista Asks me to RECONNECT...
The network is as follows: a cable modem hooked to a d-link (DFE-690TXD) wireless router, Hawkins print server connected via Ethernet, two HP (330,392c) printers connected to the server, three laptops (IBM, Apple, Sony).
Issue: Vista prompts me to "reconnect" when attached via Ethernet, it is like the network shuts off. Sometimes I have to disable the wireless card then re-enable to get the network back up when I am wireless. Apple prompts me that "Server Can Not Be Found", turning the Airport on and off sometimes fixes the problem for a little while. Please help... |

Re: Network Stops Working Vista Asks me to RECONNECT...
A little more specific information would be helpful.
On the Vista machine, what is the source of the notification? Is this coming from the System Notification Area near the clock display in the lower-right corner of the Desktop, a system pop-up message, or something displayed in your browser window? The message on the Apple looks like a browser 404 "Page cannot be found" error. Is this the case? Post the network address information for all devices on the network, and note whether DHCP (or Automatic Configuration) is enabled for each. Please include the DHCP range on your router as well. |

Re: Network Stops Working Vista Asks me to RECONNECT...
Its a small pop up, sometimes it is a larger pop up asking me to connect to another network the Sprint Card seems to be the default. I tend to ignore this option 9close it then refresh most of the time the small reconnect pop up comes up and I select ok and it usually takes me to my page. Occasionally I will have to disable the wireless card switch off the receiver, and even reboot to get it to reset but this is rare.
Apple it looks like a browser page but I'm pretty sure it says Server can not be found, I do not recall the 404 message. Not up to speed on the 3rd item but i am pretty sure the setup is Automatic, my network is open, and i added a high gain antenna to help increase signal strength. |
