OS: win xp

hub troubles

Hello

I am using win xp pro on two pc’s and vista on the third. I have cable isp. I wish to play an older game ( age of wonders shadow magic) over the inter net with friends, I have 3 pc’s. each pc has the same ip address with the router. To play this game I need each of my 3 pcs to have different ip’s.
I hooked up a net gear duel speed hub ds108 instead of the router so I could get separate ips for each computer. When I resent the cable modem and boot up the pc’s only the first 2 pc’s I turn on connect to the internet, the third one does not have connection, but the light is on , on the hub on all the lines. It does not matter which one I turn on first it is always the first two that connect. I do have separate ip address on the two.

Any help would be great, Thanks

p.s. hope i posted this in the right area

Re: hub troubles

You will never get multiple public IP addresses with most residential cable accounts. You have to pay extra for multiple public IP addresses. You're lucky you're getting two public IP addresses, that's probably an oversight with the cable company's network configuration.
