Greetings everyone, this is my frist topic here.
Firstly... I couldn't find anything here regarding this problem, not here on the forums, nor elsewhere, but i've been trying to fix it all day now with no success. So here is my problem: I just got a new Repotec RP-1624WK NIC. I'm using my internet connection with my built-in LAN card. Motherboard - ASUS A8N-E Windows VISTA Ultimate 32-bit SP1 Anyway, windows recognizes the new LAN card in my system, but it is unable to install any drivers for it. Not from the minidisc I've got with it, not from the downloaded drivers from the official REPOTEC site. The main cause might be that when I run rset8139.exe (PCI Fast ethernet card diagnostics tool) I get "Fatal Error: There is no LAN board found on you system." message... I'll paste an ipconfig thingy log here maybe it'll help you in any way: Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Aellius-PC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No PPP adapter Broadband Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadband Connection Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 84.2.155.13(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 84.2.46.1 84.2.44.1 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-15-F2-89-0B-B9 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::2979:b1cb:a302:2f%8(Preferred) Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.0.47(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : fec0:0:0:ffff::1%1 fec0:0:0:ffff::2%1 fec0:0:0:ffff::3%1 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 6: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : isatap.{04A79E53-F3F9-43A2-BAB4-14ED0699F 7A2} Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 10: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : isatap.{90D14316-4697-429E-BF3D-8C903C861 78B} Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 11: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 02-00-54-55-4E-01 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 12: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #3 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 13: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft 6to4 Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2002:5402:9b0d::5402:9b0d(Preferred) Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 2002:c058:6301::c058:6301 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 84.2.46.1 84.2.44.1 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled I could screw up anywhere while I was trying to get it work, so sorry about that. EDIT: Oh and I almost forgot, I tried the card in different PCI slots, it doesn't matter really because in device manager it shows up anyway : \. Last edited by Aerius : 02-16-2008 at 05:43 AM. |

What's wrong with the NVIDIA on-board NIC? Any reason you aren't using that? FWIW, that's a pretty "off the wall" brand, why not go for something like Intel, Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, etc.?

Re: There is no LAN board found... ? Please help : \
About my nVidia onboard NIC. I use it for my internet connection, but I'd need another one to link my Xbox to my PC. I've been thinking about buying another one, since this was very cheap. What about a USB NIC? I dunno anything about those, but since it's USB, I think compatibility would be much better. Thanks for your answer.
PS: Oh and I know it's a rubbish brand, it's hard to find any good ones here : \. |

Actually, USB will be more problematic than a PCI NIC. USB is my last choice for network connections.

Ah I see, thanks for your patience mate, as you said to buy a known brand, not a no-name one. I tried it with a Netgear one and it installed and worked instantly! Great! Thanks again, be well!
