Wireless DHCP server takes precidency over Windows 2003 DHCP server

Hi guys

1. We have a network which consist of one Windows 2003 server with DHCP enabled.
2. One wireless router with DHCP server configured to issue IP addresses for our roaming users and visitors
3. A specific rule created for the wireless router DHCP ip range to bypass the ISA authentication

Recently we noticed the wireless router taking precedency over Windows 2003 DHCP server and issuing IP addresses as soon as a computer is added to the network, which is causing real time issues for the users who own wireless enabled devices such as smartphones and notebooks.

Now, if possible we would like know whether we could force the wireless router to
A. Wait and check whether a primary DHCP server is available in the network
B. limiting the IP address issuing only to devices enabled with wireless connectivity
C. Never to issue IP address to a computer hooked up to the network through cables

We had considered using RADIUS server, but still the DCHP IP issuing problems may not be solved by this, we fear.

Any suggestions to tackle these issues? any guidence would be highly appreciated!

Truthfully, the DHCP server in most routers is pretty stupid, and will just step on your DHCP server. I'd use a separate router for guests than you use for your roaming users. Configure the guest router with DHCP enabled and configure your roaming router with DHCP disabled.

As I had mentioned with the first post, our problem is ISA and all the internet bound traffic is controlled by it.

I was reading about some cisco 1800 series wireless routers with advanced features. Any recommendations?
From your post it seems apparently there are no immediate solutions available for the problems faced by us. *sigh*

I suspect a high-end router like many of the Cisco models would allow you to segregate the traffic and solve your DHCP issue. I'm most familiar with the more standard SOHO routers, since that's what I normally run across.
