Router problems
I have a Netgear WGR614 v4 router, Gateway desktop and a Toshiba laptop. I'm on a cable modem. I can get on the internet with my desktop no problems there, but I can't get on the internet with my laptop. The laptop worked fine for about three weeks but now when I try to get on the internet it says can't renew my IP address. I've already called Knology and they say everything checks out ok on there in.
Thank you for any help!!!! bear7 ![]() |

Just some quick thoughts:
1 - do you frequently connect/disconnect the laptop from the network? if so, you may have a faulty connector on the cable, so try a known good. 2 - if #1 doesn't help, move the laptop to a different port on the router 3 - remove/reload the drivers for the NIC

The WGR614 is a wireless router so I would assume that you are using a wireless network card in conjunction with your lappy. If this is the case I would log into the netgear interface and change the channel and or passphrase and try to reconnect again.
