trace route and ping
hi i just want to ask which would be appropriate. i have a Voip phone and i want to check my connection, if i try to run ping and traceroute what would be the advisable host/ ip should i use? should it be the host/ip of my ISP, most likely nearest server to my connection OR the hose/IP of the my Voip server???
and a follow up, i stumble upon a bandwidth tester, speedtest.net i gives me option to select my server, something similar to my question about ping and tracerout should i choose the nearest server to me OR nearest server to my VOIP provider. I just want to know if i have good connection and if the problem would be my ISP or my VOIP carrier THANKS!!!

For a better analysis of your line quality register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests.
