Port forwarding nightmare...

Hi all,

I'm having a lot of trouble opening a port for BitComet. I have a desktop and laptop sharing a DSL connection via a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I've followed the steps exactly at www.portforward.com (http://www.portforward.com/english/r...G/BitComet.htm) with no results. I have opened the ports for both TCP and UDP in the exceptions tab in Windows firewall settings, and made sure the application itself was in the exceptions list. I've also tried disabling Windows firewall altogether, and even bypassing the router and connecting directly to my DSL modem with no luck. I have no other internet security or virus protection installed on either PC besides Windows firewall. My only thought is that somehow my ISP is blocking these ports... Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Brandish!

You can try calling the ISP to make sure about this. And, I'm sorry but we afraid that we can't assist you on this because the forum rules clearly stated that:

Quote:
P2P

We believe that the main purpose of P2P programs is to illegally download and use copyrighted material of whatever description. We further understand that there may be legal uses for P2P, but as we are not able to assess a user's intent when he/ she asks for help, we do not support P2P software and we will not assist any user in this regard. This includes but is not limited to Bearshare, Kazaa and many others.

Re: Port forwarding nightmare...

Please review the Tech Support Forum Rules & Conduct, and you'll see we provide no support for P2P applications here at TSF.
