I cant connect to my file server
On my windows mce 2005 pc I clicked on "add a network place" and my folder that I am trying to connect to is called \\SERVER\share. When I type this in I get a message that says the "folder you entered does not appear to be valid". The only thing I can think of is that my server has fixed tcp/ip settings. But when I change my workstations to the servers settings they cant connect to the internet. Here are my tcp/ip on the server IP: 192.168.1.254 SUBNET:255.255.255.0, GATEWAY:192.168.1.1, DNS: 192.168.1.254.(My settings on the workstations are "auto obtain". Can anyone tell me how to connect with my file server?( Ialso tried \\192.168.1.254\share...nothing)

How about showing us this for the server and the machine that can't connect?
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: Type the following two commands: NBTSTAT -n IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
