[SOLVED] Bridged connection - losing connection
Any help would be appreciated...
I originally had a Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router with 2 PC's connected, and one laptop connected wirelessly. I then had an xbox connected to the laptop with the wireless internet connection shared to allow the xbox to connect to the internet. Then...in order to share media files I installed an application called TVersity which is a UPnP server on one of my PCs. I struggled for days to get the xbox to detect the server over my network and finally I randomly "bridged the connection" on my laptop between the wireless connection and the LAN which suddenly allowed my XBox to be a part of my local network apparently. The problem now is that I lose connectivity to all my computers at once after an hour or so and I have to reset my router each time. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas. This may be a fairly obvious problem but I'm not really up on networking. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Bridged connection - losing connection
Your configuration on your laptop for the XBOX has no bearing on the router going south.
I'd start on the router issue as follows. Upgrade the firmware to the latest version (if not already there). Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure for your environment.

Re: Bridged connection - losing connection
Thanks for the reply. I think I may have solved the problem. I had enabled UPnP on my router thinking this would allow UPnP devices to interact over my network. Today I disabled it and the internet connections seem to be working well with my Xbox remaining connected to my network. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again...this forum is a really great idea.
