[SOLVED] Netgear DG834G slowdown and blocks 50% of websites randomly
Just yesterday I set up my DG834G Netgear router, and all was working well. I was getting incredible download speeds (compared to my previous Westell 327W). I even set up two hamachi networks for filesharing and itunes sharing with other people. The file sharing was incredibly fast, and itunes streamed flawlessly.
Then, a little under two hours ago, something odd happened. My internet browsing started lagging severely, so I decided I'd better exit uTorrent, at least temporarily. I still had severe lag, and some webpages would now load at all. I decided that possibly it was the hamachi, so i closed that and went to Network Connections and disabled the hamachi network. Still no good. Confused, I decided to take a look at the router config. I have a WEP encryption, but I know those are pretty easy to hack with KisMet/KisMac, so I figured someone could be in my wireless network. I checked the attached devices and saw that the only attached devices were my computer and my HP Wireless Printer. Then, just to be sure, since I am not 100% used to this new router, i checked my Wireless Station Access List to see what devices are on (though I do not have the limiter enabled). Still, only my HP Printer Showed up on the wireless (since my computer is connected via Ethernet). Then, desperate to make this work, I did a port forward to port 80. That was probably silly of me, as far as I know, people don't forward port 80. Still desperate, I tried using my Mac Mini's wireless card to connect to my wireless network on the router, which still had the same exact issue. Finally. I gave up on my own knowledge, and decided I should ask for help, which led me here. Fortunately, Google and this site are two of the random websites I can access. I have not yet updated my router's firmware, and am going to look into that as soon as I post this. |

Re: Netgear DG834G slowdown and blocks 50% of websites randomly
Ok, I've upgraded the firmware to version V2.10.22. MSN, which would not load before, now loads, while Yahoo, still will not load... *sigh*
