Unable to reach a network device from one specific server
Hi,
I have a problem in my office network. I have a card reader attached to the network and a Windows 2003 server running an application that downloads the card information stored on said device every day. A couple of weeks ago, I transfered the card reader to a nearby warehouse where I had to change its IP address for the server to find it. The transition went smoothly. Everything was running fine until I had to take it back to its original location. Of course, I changed the IP back to what it originally was, but now the server that hosts the application is unable to communicate with the card reader. The for me intriguing part is that I AM able to communicate with this card reader from other servers or, for example, my pc. Every computer accross the domain seems to be able to ping it, except for the one server that really needs to communicate to it. I have tried setting several different IP addresses in this card reader with the same result. The device has already been reset to factory default, yet another IP selected for it to use and still the same results. I have another two of those card readers and both work as expected. As I said above, this particular device was working without problems, was moved to an alternate location in a different subnet and the appropiate settings were changed. It stayed in this alternate site for a week, afterwards, I unplugged it, brought it to the original location, turned it on, changed the appropiate settings again (in other words I set it back to its old settings) and hooked it in place. After this I had to change the IP information on the application running in my server. When doing this is that I realized that there was a problem. It baffles me that, as of right now, I am able to ping the device from any pc in the domain, except from the server thats hosts the application. Also, the same application that needs to communicate with this device communicates in a daily basis with the other two card readers without problems. Can anyone provide some advice on how to get the server to communicate with this card reader? Thanks in advance. Juan |
