Firefox and IE7 stops working after a while [Moved from IE]
ok I have windows xp sp 2
I have spybot and adware run them both with the update. I also have avg antispyware and antivirus plus I also have nod32 antivirus So my problem is that after I use firefox or IE7 then after a while that I dont use it after I already used it. It displays server not found or website cannot be displayed. However, I can still use msn messenger, steam, p2p, and other internet dependent programs except my browsers. I dont know what else to do. What I have to do so my browser to work is click on repair on my network or click on properties and change from full 100 mode to auto mode or auto mode to 100 full mode. Dont know what else to do. I never had this problem. Thank you in advance. |

Re: Firefox and IE7 stops working after a while [Moved from IE]
When the browsers cease to work, try this.
Try these simple tests. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: PING 216.109.112.135 PING yahoo.com Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Firefox and IE7 stops working after a while [Moved from IE]
I only see the IP address results, not the URL results. Do both of them when it fails.

Re: Firefox and IE7 stops working after a while [Moved from IE]
OK, the DNS server is failing for some reason.
When it's working, then again when it's failing, check the status of all the networking services. Check your Services are Started on all PCs:
Note: You can check the services in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. All of these services should be started, and their startup type should be automatic (or perhaps manual). I'd also like to see this for when it's working, then again when it's failing. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

When it stops working, I'd like you to check the network services.
Check your Services are Started on all PCs:

Re: Firefox and IE7 stops working after a while [Moved from IE]
So, all the services are actually running and set to Automatic, and that doesn't change?
Check the System Event Log and see if there are any entries around the time that the system doesn't connect.
