EEK! Help me stop a remote user accessing PC

HI,

Please can someone help. My friend thinks shes going mad, her boyfriend has been remotely accessing her pc and messing it up. We need to know how to stop him and how to access the files hes made on the pc as hes "locked" them. A static IP address can be seen, which tells us where hes accessing from as personal home users have dynamic IP addresses. We want to gather evidence of the PC to prove what he has been doing. We just need to know what to do, to gain this infomation.

I was there the other day and the pc wasnt connected to the internet yet when we went into the settings or somewhere like that, it showed full internet connection. Also it keeps coming up with DDE files which my friend tells me are remote accessors files, you will only get them when this activity is happening. The pc will just turn its self off, and basically in a real mess! I know we need to totally reprogramme it and put a new firewall on, but we know hes remotely accessing from his work place but believe it could be to do with maybe having an affair, hes putting obvious files on the pc to throw her off the sent but its been going on for over 12 months now and his driving her mad, as he says its all in her head!

I dont know if im writing this correctly, or even in the correct forum, but need help to end this ordeal for my poor friend, she just wants the truth but also her pc back as she runs her business accounts on it! If anybody out there can tell me how to pull the info off the pc to prove shes not mad and to put an end to this i will be eternally gratefull!!!!

Hope to hear from someone very soon, many thanks and kind regards

Re: Help me stop a remote user accessing PC

1. when the computer is not in use - turn if off
2. turn off remote, right click "my computer" click on properties, click on remote tab, unselect send out invitations, the click on advanced, unselect allow this computer to be controlled remotely. Thats really all you need to do.
3. In addition change all passwords in email accounts and on the computer(if password protected) - if not - put a password on it.

as far as getting proof, someone else will have to help with that.
