Procedure for restoring wireless modem from factory default

Hello all, my first time post here.I am using an Axess.Tel AXWD800 wireless broadband modem.I have recently restored the settings to factory default settings,however,I am unsuccessful in configuring the modem to obtain IP addresses automatically, in spite of following the instructions in the manual, i see other posts mention powering down the modem and the PC for changes to take place , this was not mentioned in the manual. Is there a procedure configure and apply changes ?.I am currently using A static IP address, but allthe experts seem to tell me that EVDO by design is meant to work with Dynamic IP addresses.Please guide me accordingly.
